Rosacea Awareness Month

It’s Rosacea Awareness Month and for some of our clients we know that this is a difficult condition to deal with. Within our clinic, we aim to normalise all skin conditions to help with understanding more about them and how we can help treat them. Rosacea is an incredibly common condition with around 45 million people worldwide with it. So let’s learn a little more about it…

Rosacea is caused by the dilation of the facial blood vessels, this increased blood flow to the skin’s surface is what gives a red, flushed appearance. It tends to affect those with lighter skin more and presents more frequently in women, however, the symptoms tend to be more severe in men. It is a chronic condition but it can be treated through various methods that we offer in our clinic.

Like any condition, there are similarities between people, however, the symptoms vary between each individual in severity and longitude.

  • Facial Redness – flushing + visible blood vessels
  • Bumps + Pimples
  • Skin thickening – usually around the nose
  • Eye irritation

Those with the condition will know, heat is the biggest trigger for symptoms! Anything from hot weather, humidity, temperature change from indoor to outdoor heat, spicy food & even hot drinks! Other triggers may include exercise, emotional stress, alcohol & certain skincare products.

How can the AG Skin Clinic help with your condition?

We offer some wonderful in-clinic treatments as well as home-care products too! With a condition such as Rosacea, we will always recommend gentle, soothing products/treatments as this is best to calm the condition and ensure it isn’t triggered. Both Skeyndor & AlumierMD offer wonderful home-care products that can help manage rosacea.

IN-CLINIC TREATMENTS:

  • Calming & Soothing Aquatherm Facial, Skeyndor : Using spring waters from the French Pyrenees, pH balance of the skin is restored. It also has a desensitising and calming effect on the skin.
  • DermaLux Light Therapy : Dermalux uses therapeutic light therapy to boost collagen production, increase hydration, calm redness and irritation and blitz blemish causing bacteria.
  • Advanced Blemish Removal : as a result of the condition, Thread Veins may develop. Treatment aims to restore the previous appearance of the skin.
  • Nutritional Therapy: As this condition has many triggers, for some individuals certain foods have been linked as a trigger. Particularly dairy and any foods containing histamine such as tomatoes, citrus fruits & sadly, chocolate, have all been identified as possible triggers. Kay, our Guest Expert Nutritionist can offer any advice with diet and linking this your condition.

If you have Rosacea or any other skin concern, we can discuss with you a potential treatment plan to help manage it! And remember, your skin condition does not define you…
